8th Annual Medical Charity Run
On Saturday, September 28, the 8th annual Medical Charity Run, organized by students from the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine at Comenius University in Martin, took place. A total of 742 runners participated across various race categories.
All proceeds from this year's event will support the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Clinic of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, University Hospital Martin.
"It's wonderful that the tradition of organizing this charity event continues at our faculty. Everyone enjoys this day—Hviezdoslav Park comes alive, as does the city of Martin. It's not just about the run, and I believe the charitable aspect will be fulfilled, with enough funds raised to support the children at University Hospital Martin. Congratulations to the main organizer, who did a fantastic job. I look forward to us meeting here again next year," said the Dean of JFMED CU, Prof. Andrea Čalkovská, MD, DrSc., who personally attended the event to show her support.
Thanks to favorable weather, Hviezdoslav Park was bustling with various activities throughout the day. Visitors had the opportunity to have their vision and gait assessed, learn about proper dental hygiene techniques, understand reproductive disorders, practice first aid, and much more. "This year, we had a record number of participants in the children's races, with over 120 children, which makes us very happy. A big thank you goes to Active Arena for organizing the children's races. I also want to thank everyone who came out. A total of 742 runners lined up at the start, which shows that people want to help and support charity events," said the main organizer, student Amy van Brecht.
