How to connect to Internet

This manual describes how to configure your computer for Internet access by the wired Ethernet at the Student's hostels of Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin. Please first deactivate the wireless device in your computer. The Student's network does not working a wireless LAN. No user support for the computer's installation, configuration, maintenance, is provided by Department of Information Technology.

Each student is entitled to free use of Internet connection at the Student's hostel room, no application necessary however, depending on the automatically obtained IP address and 802.1x authentication, which are the preconditions.

Run "services.msc" in the Search box (start search) as administrator to start this service, find out Wired Autoconfig, right click Properties and Start automatically. The service responsible for the 802.1x authentication on Ethernet LAN must be activated first on your Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux.

Enable 802.1X Authentication for the network adapter: For Windows users, go to Change adapter settings >> Properties >> Authentication tab, enable IEEE 802.1X Authentication. Otherwise, the instructions for settings look similar to Eduroam as well. Before using the service, user’s name and password authentication allocated to every Comenius University student, teacher and staff member at the Identity management and password provider services are requested. They can be reached at https://identity.uniba.sk/en.
